Cyclethon raises cash for Holywell Community Hospital // 1st August 2010
Two teams comprising of both staff and clients competed against each other in an all day cyclethon to help raise £815 for Holywell Community hospital.
Battling it out on exercise bikes on kind loan from Lyons Den Fitness of Holywell the teams managed to cycle just under 74 miles while raising £815 between them.
Gardner’s Director Andrew Filbee presented the cheque to the hospital along with office administrator Alison Hughes, who came up with the idea of the cyclethon.
“It was a brilliant idea of Alison’s and the staff all worked really hard getting sponsorship,” says Andrew. “Our clients were also really supportive, especially Stuart Wallis of Wallis Landscapes and Paul Rutt of B2 Business Systems who not only raised cash but actually joined in on the cyclethon too.”
Dee Begbie, Hospital Manager who accepted the cheque on behalf of the hospital says:
“We really value Gardners support and the money helps us enormously, especially as technology means our equipment becomes dated so quickly.” Says Hospital Manager Dee Begbie.
“We’ve decided a new digital sit on patient weighing scale, which need to be very accurate to direct patient treatment and drug therapy would be an excellent use of the donation.”
Holywell Community Hospital brings together essential medical services including Dr’s, Midwives, Occupationally Therapy, Physiotherapy, minor injuries, out patients as well as in patients.
